‘No Time To Die’ Heads To IMAX in Honor of 60 Years of Bond

James Bond has always been a staple household name in film culture. Sean Connery played the first James Bond in Dr. No over 60 years ago. Connery played the debonair ladies man who looked good in a suit. He drove the nicest car, and he had all the spy gadgets. Everyone who’s ever watched Bond with their dad or grandpa has dreamed of being Bond.  In the last 60 years following Connery’s portrayal of the famous OO7 spy, there have been over seven in total that made their dreams come true when suiting up to play Bond.

To celebrate over 60 years of Bond, the latest film No Time To Die is heading back to IMAX for a second go-around. It’s always exciting to see Bond on the big screen. Daniel Craig went 15 years as OO7, and the last film No Time To Die was his last performance as the famous spy. Over on Slashfilm, director Fukunaga said in his press release about the film in IMAX: “Shooting on 15 perf – IMAX film is the pinnacle of large-format filmmaking – there is nothing out there to compare it to, not even the highest resolution digital cameras can render the color detail and breadth of those massive negative frames; I was excited beyond belief to be the first Bond director to work with these cameras and honored we could give Daniel’s fifth Bond [movie] the sendoff he deserved, and audiences the maximum theatrical ride.”

Bond fans who’ve missed No Time To Die will have a second chance to see the film in IMAX on January 21, 2022. But before then MGM has already released a 45-minuted documentary Being James Bond on Apple TV. Be sure to tune into Craig’s last ride as 007 when No Time To Die hits theaters in IMAX on Friday.
