Get ready for one big grand finale. Cadillac has just announced that the Escalade V high-performance SUV will debut tomorrow, January 21. Obviously, don't mistake this with the eventual all-electric Escalade, rumored to be called the Escalade IQ. The Escalade V is a very different beast.

Power will come from the same supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 already in use in the CT5-V Blackwing where it produces 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque. The regular Escalade's 6.2-liter V8 offers up 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of twist. If you recall, the LT4 was also under the hood of the C7 Corvette Z06 and Camaro ZL1. However, there's a very good chance it'll be slightly detuned for the Escalade V. We'll know for certain tomorrow.

Expect it to be paired to GM's 10-speed automatic transmission. Along with a single teaser image, Cadillac released a very brief video with some lovely audio. Cadillac stated last year that the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwings will be the final gasoline-powered V cars. The keyword there is "cars." SUVs are apparently a different matter. We're not at all complaining.

Previously spotted prototypes, despite their body camouflage, indicate the full-size SUV will receive some exterior enhancements. Expect a more aggressive body kit with V styling elements like a sportier-looking front and rear ends. A specially designed grille and gloss black styling bits are also highly likely. But make no mistake, the Escalade V will stand out from the regular model.

The Escalade V could very well end up being Cadillac's final new gasoline-powered model ever. Don't expect V versions of the XT4, XT5, or XT6. All three will be phased out in favor of fully electrified replacements, such as the already-revealed Lyriq. The Escalade nameplate, however, will continue, hence the decision to call the EV version the Escalade IQ.

Now in its fifth generation, the Escalade has become the most recognizable and famous of all modern Caddies. Names like Eldorado, Seville, and Coupe de Ville are long gone. Future EVs from the brand are expected to have a "q" at the end of their names. But before any of that happens, get ready for one last V8-powered ride. It's going to be quite something.
