Marvel’s Daredevil emerged from a three-year long hibernation to crack Nielsen’s latest ranking of the Top 10 streaming originals.
The long-cancelled, MCU-adjacent superhero series’ renewed bingeability came in the wake of recent cameos by two major characters, in the box office blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home and in the final two episodes of Disney+’s Hawkeye series.
Netflix’s The Witcher remained atop Nielsen’s Top 10 list (for the week of Dec. 20), amassing 2.7 billion minutes viewed across 16 total episodes.
Netflix’s Emily in Paris, with the release of its second season, followed with 938 million across 20 total episodes — tying Hawkeye (which drew 938 million across six available episodes).
Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time (638 million) placed fourth, followed by Netflix’s Lost in Space (490 million).
Rounding out the Top 10 streaming originals for the week of Dec. 20 were five Netflix originals: The Great British Baking Show, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, the aforementioned Daredevil (195 million minutes across 39 episodes), Jim Gaffigan: Comedy Monster and Money Heist.
Falling out of the Top 10 this time around were Selling Tampa, The Queen of the Flow and Twentysomethings: Austin.

Its genuinely disappointing that Disney haven’t revived the Netflix Marvel shows after the rights reverted back to them. It terms of cost they’re significantly cheaper than the MCU set TV shows to produce.
First they had to wait 2 years after it ended. They must have an idea about the character.
Yeah I think there’s a lot left to explore with the Daredevil character. These Netflix shows averaged like $3-4 million an episode compared to the average of $25 million an episode for the MCU set shows with the movie actors. There’s clearly more demand for Daredevil. Come on Marvel.
I guess they could at Hulu, but Disney plus keeps things PGish.
i seriously hope they dont. nothing good has come of them when they do that.
I don’t want them making shows just because they’re cheap. We’ll get some good Daredevil content, just be patient. They KNOW how much people love this Daredevil, that’s why he was in No Way Home, and Fisk was in Hawkeye. They’ll do something special that fits in the MCU when it’s possible to do it right.
Yeah I’ve noticed a lot of people are catching up on Daredevil and Jessica Jones as well. Hope this will convince Disney to revive them both at least… I watched them again lately and I do miss that darker, sexier tone in the MCU at the moment
I doubt it will happen, at least in the format they were in. I’d think Hawkeye is about as gritty as Disney+ is likely to allow. Certainly can’t see the level of violence and gore we saw in The Punisher.
.
As for JJ, Krysten Ritter has been pretty clear that she wouldn’t return unless Melissa Rosenberg does as well. S1 was fantastic, though IMO the show never really recovered from losing David Tennant, much like DD suffered without Vincent D’Onofrio.
I would love to see move Daredevil, Defenders, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc. I think there are 2 issues keeping this from happening: Disney/Marvel wants the TV shows to fit into their existing movie(s) universe to maximize profits & the shows on Netflix are rated MA, no way those would be allowed on Disney+.
They have Hulu for that, and now they did introduce Darevil and Wilson Fisk and the multiverse. They can do whatever they want.
Hulu, despite Disney’s initial promises, is still only available in North America though. Some Hulu content is released to Disney+ via Star however, but not all.
.
With the exception of Deadpool, I don’t see Disney doing anything that isn’t the same sort of levels as the current shows though, case in point the deleted end of Hawkeye.
Great rebound for Daredevil.
Now they just need to capitalize by announcing season 4 of Daredevil.
