Pooch Perfect is in the dog house.
ABC has cancelled the Rebel Wilson-hosted dog grooming competition series after one season, TVLine has confirmed. Additionally, the network has indefinitely benched the celebrity-themed revival of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Based on the Australian series, Pooch Perfect showcased 10 of the best dog groomers (and their trusty assistants) in the United States. Bridesmaids vet Wilson hosted the Aussie version as well.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the new iteration of Millionaire, succeeding the late Regis Philbin. The revival put celebrities in the hot seat, answering multiple-choice trivia questions to win up to $1 million for their favorite charities. Among the new edition’s other tweaks: One of the lifelines was now “Ask the Host,” allowing contestants to ask Kimmel to weigh in. They could also bring a friend along to help them with the first 10 questions.
Per Deadline, ABC is leaving the door slightly ajar for Millionaire to return at some point in the future, although there are currently no plans to produce new episodes.
so Millionaire is not really cancelled just on indefinite hiatus
Ty jimmy Kimmel.
Apparently nobody wants to be a millionaire anymore :-)
Less Kimmel is always a good thing.
When did Pooch Perfect air ? I would have watched this show, but I had never heard of it.
I thought Haute Dog on HBO Max was a better show, but I’m assuming that was canceled as well.
Any announcement on Match Game? I actually like that show alot.
If it comes back, Alec Baldwin surely won’t be hosting. I think ABC pulled the plug. Maybe it’s times have changed, the double entendres just weren’t as funny. And unless you have the right mix of celebs…
Hopefully …Millionaire will be back. I love the new version with them playing for charities.
Neither show was a winner. Pooch Perfect seemed wrong as a concept. And Millionaire’s slow pace is even more painful when celebrities play.
Pooch Perfect had Australian, UK, and US versions and they were all cancelled after only season. There’s some reality shows that are a hit in one country but fail in others (Holey Moley is renewed for a 4th season but the Australian version bombed for example) but I don’t know of a show that failed in 3 countries in less than 2 years.
Utopia comes to mind.
I LOVED WWTBAM ! But I love JK too ! I sure hope they reconsider this.
I am peeved that I watched half of Pooch Perfect last year on Hulu, and then it abruptly disappeared. I thought ABC shows on Hulu were pretty certain.
Not cool….Haute Dawg & Pooch Perfect were two very interesting and creative competive shows.
I don’t even remember hearing about Pooch Perfect.
All those poor dawgies!! I’m glad that terrible idea of a show was cancelled!!
Rebel Wilson is a delight but the judges for Pooch Perfect, talk about *WOOF* :P
Haute Dog is a lot more breezily charming
I’m sorry that Millionaire has been shelved. I enjoyed that show. I kind of feel that it didn’t have much of a chance, though, since it was filmed during the no-studio-audience days of the pandemic. Maybe they will try it again during my favorite time of the year, Summer Gameshow Season.
