(Fargo, ND) -- A city commissioner is objecting to another commissioner's call for the immediate removal of Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski.

An anonymous letter sent to officials Tuesday night claiming to be from a current officer lodged harsh criticism against the chief, leading Commissioner Dave Piepkorn to say on a radio program Wednesday that Zibolski should be removed. Commissioner Tony Gehrig objected, saying such an important decision shouldn't be based on anonymous letters and bad exit interviews. Gehrig says an improvement plan is the way to go.

The topic is expected to be discussed at next Monday's commission meeting.
