Talk about being committed to the job!
On Wednesday, a local reporter for NBC‘s West Virginia affiliate was hit by a car during the 11 o’clock news, then bounced back up and continued her report.
The incredible footage, which you can see below, shows the precise moment that an SUV slammed into Tori Yorgey, knocking the WSAZ-TV personality to the ground. Within seconds, the West Virginian is back on her feet to assure the driver, in-studio anchor Tim Irr and those watching at home that she’s OK.
“Oh my God! I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK,” Yorgey says from off camera. “I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK, Tim… That’s live TV for you. I’m all good!”
Irr, who couldn’t see what happened at the time, asked Yorgey if she’d been “bumped down low” or “hit up high,” but neither Yorgey nor the driver were certain.
“I don’t even know, Tim,” Yorgey answered. “My whole life just flashed before my eyes… I thought I was in a safe spot, but clearly we might need to move the camera over a bit.”
Yorgey went on to praise the driver for expressing concern. “That woman was so nice,” she said. “She didn’t mean to [hit me]. It was an accident, I know it was, and I’m OK. Everything’s fine.”
From there, Yorgey continued her report about a local water main break without batting an eye.
Update: On Thursday evening, Yorgey thanked people for “the kindness and well wishes,” adding: “I am feeling fine, just a little sore.” She also vouched for news anchor Tim Orr, saying he “couldn’t see what was happening in that moment. He is one of the kindest people I know.”

Wow, this reporter gets hit by a car, and rebounds to finish the live shot! 😂 pic.twitter.com/dbwKt5N1xc

The adrenaline could have been masking injury or pain. Hope she’s okay.
I’m not a fan of anchor-dude Tim here. Zero expression or immediate concern, just “that’s live TV for ya”, like a fly landed on her nose.
.
The good news is she was immediately ok, but she really should be checked out – likely to have bruising, and hopefully no clots form…
Agreed with others that the emergency folks around her likely checked her for injuries after because the adrenaline rush could be masking. But still, wow. And she mentions it being her last week on the job like she’s a police captain in an 80s movie!
That is just crazy!! I really hope she went to the ER after the report.
They really should have cut from her. In my opinion, very unprofessional.
One-man-band remote, probably producer-director-TD-audio-studio combo operator, had nowhere to go but to the studio.
Man she’s really a strong woman girl you go but you need to get her insurance because she should have been watching when she was going
Tim had such a blank face it was off putting. He was so nonchalant about it just saying that’s live tv folks. No sense of concern in his voice initially or anything
It’s likely that he could only hear what was happening through an earpiece, but couldn’t see it. She said she was hit by a car, but was fine; in his mind he may have assumed just a glancing swipe from the car.
No, he said “I saw you disappear” from the shot. He seemed concerned to me, and slightly in shock. Honestly, it’s a really shocking thing to have happen, for everyone, but he IS a news anchor so he’s not going to react like he’s her parent or something… And sometimes people seem oddly calm before it really sinks in and they react later.
Correction: He could NOT see her, must have meant he heard her audio just disappear?
Still, he did seem concerned and judging him for not freaking out is really messed up.
I thin Tori needs a promotion.
Other reports suggest she’s leaving for a bigger reporting job in at another city affiliate (Philly I think?). She did say it’s her last week in the report…
Glad she is OK
Yeah agree with some other commenters that that guy she was talking to didn’t seem to care at all. I was watching HIM the second time because I was sure I had just missed the concern on his face but nope. He’s just like “well that’s a new one for you, Tori” wtf
Wow! Our society is so messed up that we have normalized getting hit by a car and continuing to work immediately thereafter. We even praised it. I hope she gets checked out. Unknown internal injuries are dangerous.
What a trouper!!
WOW! I see a HUGE lawsuit and the driver will be put in jail for a long time. No lying…all on camera.
People need to calm down. It says right in the article, and Tori Yorgey confirmed it on Facebook, Tim Irr could not see her. They only had audio. And the anchor called her immediately afterwards to check on her.
.
Here’s her complete quote about the accident: “Wow. I am flattered by the kindness and well wishes. I am feeling fine, just a little sore! Thank you all so much.
.
For the record: Tim Irr couldn’t see what was happening in that moment. He is one of the kindest people I know, and was first to call to check on me.”
