Kamaiyah – “F.W.I” (Feat. DaBoii)
It’s been a bit since we heard from Oakland rapper Kamaiyah. In September 2020, she released the collaborative EP Oakland Nights with fellow Bay Area artist Capolow. The 10-track EP followed her February 2020 mixtape Got It Made. Now, Kamaiyah has circled back with a new song and video: “F.W.I” featuring Vallejo rapper DaBoii.

OSEES – “Funeral Solution”
Madcap mastermind John Dwyer has kept up his non-stop string of releases over the past year with albums from projects like Moon Drenched and Gong Splat, which Dwyer made with a whole bunch of friends and collaborators. Today, he’s announcing a brand-new Osees album, A Foul Form, which is due out on August 12 via Castle Face Records. Lead single “Funeral Solution” is scurrying and furious. The album comes with a statement from noted fan Henry Rollins:

On Friday, Bridie Monds-Watson, the Irish singer-songwriter who records as SOAK, will release their new album If I Never Know You Like This Again. We’ve already posted the early singles “last july” and “purgatory.” Now, with the LP release looming, Monds-Watson has dropped one last pre-release single.

Cola – “Fulton Park”
At the end of this week, Cola, the band that rose from the ashes of Ought, are releasing their debut album, Deep In View. We’ve heard a good chunk of singles from it already — “Blank Curtain,” “So Excited,” “Water Table,” and “Degree” — and today we’re getting one more, the itchy and impressionistic “Fulton Park.”

Netflix has canceled another one of its major shows, with this one getting the ax after only two seasons. Variety reports that hit sci-fi drama Raising Dion has been dropped by the streamer, following its recent season debut. The news seems to have been revealed by series star Sammi Haney, who shared the news with fans on Instagram. "Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED [sic] Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans!" Haney wrote, in part. "Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!"

Shawn Mendes Covers Bruce Springsteen For Tommy Hilfiger Campaign
Shawn Mendes has joined the flock of musicians who have covered Bruce Springsteen’s seminal 1984 tune “Dancing In The Dark.” (Hot Chip’s is my personal favorite.) In a new Tommy Hilfiger campaign, Mendes (whose Springsteen influence is well-documented) sings his rendition and models a slew of collared shirts. He’s also singing and playing along to his twinkly cover track from within an Austin-based warehouse, according to Rolling Stone.
