Officials identify one killed in Neptune double homicide; victims were in parked car

NEPTUNE - Two people killed in a shooting Wednesday night were sitting in a parked car on Washington Avenue at the time, authorities said.

Only one of the two victims had been identified as of Thursday morning. Samore Edwards, an 18-year-old Plainfield woman, was shot and killed along with an unidentified male, acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said.

Officers responded to the area about 8:15 p.m. after a report of a shooting, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The two victims were found sitting inside a parked vehicle, according to officials.

Edwards died on the scene and the male victim was later pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medial Center, police said. 

Neptune police Capt.  Michael McGhee confirmed Thursday morning that the shooting resulted in a double homicide.
