Friends of the Festival cancelled Riverbend 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In November of that year, Friends of the Festival announced several staff layoffs.

In 2021, organizers at first announced they were hoping to hold the festival in October. But those plans changed when they learned another festival had already booked the weekend they had wanted. It later turned out that that other festival, Big Roots 9, had to cancel due to a high number of COVID-19 cases.

Mitchell Hall, Director of Operations for the festival said, “We heard loud and clear from both the performers and festival goers that they wanted a more intimate experience. Because of this, the Coca-Cola stage has been reworked and we have VIP areas at each of our three stages to allow for an up-close experience we know our audience will love.”

Tickets are now on sale. Go here to learn more.
