Today, Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have announced that the long-anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be launching on April 5th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and the Nintendo Switch. Check out the official gameplay overview trailer at the top of the page.

As the name would imply, The Skywalker Saga is a LEGO version of the complete Star Wars mainline saga, including recreations of all nine episodes, from The Phantom Menace all the way until The Rise of Skywalker. Players will even be able to choose which trilogy era they want to start with, meaning you can get the prequel or sequel trilogy out of the way first and save the original trilogy for last, if you like.

While LEGO games tend to be huge celebrations for the franchise they’re depicting, The Skywalker Saga is TT Games’ biggest project yet. The gameplay has been completely overhauled to include multiple character classes and a fully fledged character map that players will be able to explore as one of 300 plus characters. Along the way, you’ll unlock Kyber Bricks, a new feature that’ll let you upgrade the skills of the character classes, unlocking new abilities.

Digital pre-orders are live now, though there’s a physical Deluxe Edition coming that will include an exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigure, Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk. Tell me that isn’t an essential purchase. For fans of the LEGO games series who might have been unhappy with the added voice-acting to cutscenes, there’s even a mumble mode in this game which replaces all speech with silly mumbles.

While the announcement of a release date for this highly anticipated game is welcome, it’s not been without controversy, as a recent report from Polygon details a culture of crunch and workplace harassment within TT Games that’s hard to ignore.
