The Royal Treatment is now streaming on Netflix and chances are if you’re here reading this piece you’ve either just begun or finished watching the movie and are curious to know where exactly the film was filmed.

It’s not an uncommon question, in fact, it’s one I too had when watching the film as I found myself blown away by the breathtaking backdrop of the film and its picturesque landscapes.

To help bring the country of Lavania to life in The Royal Treatment, Netflix’s production teams headed out to a country that has become one of the most popular destinations for studios: New Zealand.

As revealed in the credits for the film, The Royal Treatment was filmed across Dunedin and Oamaru, New Zealand in a number of locations that helped to double as various parts of the country of Lavania.

Perhaps the most notable filming location is Larnach Castle which — you guessed it — doubles as the Lavania King and Queen’s castle within the film. It’s actually billed as being one of New Zealand’s premier visitor attractions and is known for its award-winning gardens.

Additional filming destination spots used in the filming of the movie include Dunedin Otepoti, Campe Estate, Olveston Historic Home, the University of Otago, the Warehouse Precinct, CPG Hotels, Miller Studios, Whitestone Civic Trust Buildings, Movement Hub and Grainstore Gallery.
