The City of Fort Madison has openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission. This commission plays an important role in what development is allowed throughout town. Currently, this commission is considering revamping the zoning districts and code and have the ability to change what is allowed in different areas of town. If this is something that interests you or if you would be a vital asset to such a team, please contact the city to see how you could be more involved.

This is an exciting window for the Planning Commission as participants can make a lasting effect to the redevelopment of our town.

Duties of the Commission: Zoning Code and District Changes/ compliance review of planned developments and subdivisions. Review and update of Fort Madison’s Comprehensive Plan (future goals and vision).

Meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month, as needed and scheduled.

The commission consists of five members serving 3-year terms. Members must resident in Fort Madison to be eligible.
