'Breath Of Fresh Air' - Anthony Elanga Praised For Not Giving 'Robotic Responses' In Classy Post-Match Interview

Anthony Elanga impressed Manchester United fans both on the pitch and off it with his refreshing attitude in a post-match interview.

United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been impressed by Elanga and started him in the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

And the United winger earned himself in the starting XI for the second consecutive time in Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Brentford.

Fred floated a sublime over-the-top through-ball into the path of Elanga, whose first touch took the ball away from Mads Roerslev Rasmussen.

Elanga then proceeded to fire a header past a wrong-footed Jonas Lossl, with United taking the lead at the Brentford Community Stadium in the second half.

Mason Greenwood doubled United’s advantage seven minutes after Elanga’s opener before Marcus Rashford broke his goalscoring drought by grabbing his side’s third.

Ivan Toney scored for the Bees late into the second half, but United secured all three points against Brentford.

Elanga, who is under contract with United until 2026, has made seven appearances for the Red Devils’ senior team this season.

Speaking after United’s 3-1 win over Brentford, the 19-year-old winger showed pure class with his attitude and paid tribute to Rangnick for acknowledging his hard work.

“I appreciate the boss so much and you can see in training, the intensity, how much we are running,” he told BT Sport.

“If you put the work in, you’ll get rewards in games and that’s what I want to try and do every day; try to work hard and train the way I want to play.”

The United youngster’s interview earned him praise from fans on social media, with one user calling it a “breath of fresh air” and for not giving “usual robotic responses.”

Elanga, who came through the United youth academy, said it was “special to score” for the Red Devils and thanked fans who travelled down for the Brentford clash.

“It’s always special to score for this wonderful club. I had the honour to do it last season against Wolves, and it felt amazing,” he told MUTV.

The Sweden Under-21s international added: “They’ve [the fans] made the journey here, a long journey as well, so they deserve that.

“That win is for them and that goal was for them as well.”
