Wow, Steven Bergwijn, just wow! The Dutch winger scored a last-minute brace to earn Tottenham all three points and cash my Spurs Team Total Goals Over 1.5 +108 play. This is the first betting tip I’ve written for NBC Sports Edge that hit, and it’ll be one I never forget.

This victory has done wonders for my Tottenham To Finish Top 4 futures bet. Antonio Conte‘s side sits in fifth, one point behind fourth-placed West Ham with three games in hand. Spurs are also eight points behind third-placed Chelsea with four games in hand.

Pointsbet are yet to release the updated prices for this market. I got Tottenham last week at +200, and they were +180 before this game. I’m sure their price will drop considerably after this result.

Looking at the weekend’s markets, I have devised a betting plan for freekick specialist James Ward-Prowse for you to consider. All odds are taken from Pointsbet and reflective at the time of writing.

James Ward-Prowse Direct Freekick Scoring Plan

Last weekend James Ward-Prowse scored a stunning direct freekick against Wolves, taking his total in the Premier League (PL) to 12. David Beckham is the only player ahead of him with 18, and at 27-years-old there’s a good chance Southampton’s captain will surpass him.

Against Manchester City this weekend, he’s available at +2200 to score a direct freekick. I haven’t kept track of Ward-Prowse’s price in this market, so it could be inflated because they’re playing City.

Looking at other freekick specialists in the PL, their prices vary this weekend with Kevin De Bruyne +2000, Trent Alexander-Arnold +1400, James Maddison +3300, and Rúben Neves +2500.

Ward-Prowse’s Direct Freekick Scoring stats per PremierLeague.com are:

2015/16 - 1

2016/17 - 0

2017/18 - 1

2018/19 - 2

2019/20 - 2

2020/21 - 4

2021/22 - 2 (Halfway through the season)

As you can see, he has improved over the years. This season he has scored two in 19 appearances and last season four in 38 appearances, meaning he’s averaging one every 9.5 games.

Freekick taking is something you get better at with age, experience, and practicing day in day out. I’m confident Ward-Prowse will score another one this season, and I’m going to back him every match.

Even if his price drops to +1400, I would still make a 2 unit profit if he does it in match 12. If he does it in match four at +1800, that will be 14 units of beautiful profit.

I’ll keep you updated throughout the second half of the season, and we will know around mid-May if I was right to back Ward-Prowse.
