BTS Cancels Trip to the United States Following Postponement of the 64th Grammy Awards Ceremony

Back on January 5 local time, the Recording Academy - the organizers of the world-renowned Grammy Awards - announced the postponement of the ceremony "after careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and [their] many partners."

The decision was made in consideration for the health and safety of the people in the music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work to produce the show.

In addition, the rising cases of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant also put the ceremony - which was originally slated to take place on January 31 local time at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California - at too many risks.

In fact, this isn't the first time the Grammy Awards was postponed. In 2021, the awards ceremony was also postponed and moved to March 14 instead of January 31.

Following the Recording Academy's announcement, BTS' label Big Hit Music also released a statement regarding the seven-member group's attendance, where they snagged their second-ever nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with their 2021 record-breaking summer single "Butter," following their nomination with "Dynamite" in the previous Grammy Awards ceremony.
