WASHINGTON (TND) — As COVID cases surge across the country, some cities and states are once again stepping up their restrictions.
Nevada is now back under an indoor mask mandate. The state’s health department announced Wednesday that the mask mandate is back in effect for the entire state as every single county is reporting high transmission of the virus.
It's just one of the several states strengthening their COVID safety precautions.
In New Jersey, the governor signed an executive order requiring health care workers to get a COVID-19 booster shot. They now have until the end of February to get the additional dose.
In Kentucky, some schools are going virtual as the state's positivity rate skyrockets. Right now, one in every three COVID tests is coming back positive, leading to staffing shortages and mass absences in some districts.
But the president said in a Wednesday press conference that the country will not be locking down like early 2020, adding that it's a priority to keep schools open.
“We’re in a better place than we’ve been and have been thus far, including better than a year ago,’’ Biden said. “We’re not going back to lockdowns. We’re not going back to closing schools.’’
