Google Play Games for Windows is now available in beta in select regions

Google made a surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2021, confirming that you would soon be able to start enjoying some of the best games from the Play Store on your Windows computers. The company didn’t provide much information as to a specific timeline, but we’re now learning more about that. Starting today, if you live in select countries you can fire up the Google Play Games Beta on your Windows PC and start playing.

As expected, this is limited in availability, as the beta program is only available in the following regions:

Adding even further limitations (albeit expected) is that Google didn’t share the entire list of games that are available. However, the following titles have been confirmed:

While the number of regions and games are limited, Google does provide a bit more insight when it comes to the required specs in order to take advantage:

If you live in one of the three regions where the initial beta is available, Google has a landing page for you to “register” and you will be notified once your account has been accepted to the program. As for availability in more regions, Google only stated that it “will expand to other regions later in 2022 and beyond.” It’s a bit frustrating for those of us here in the States, but this was expected to be limited in the beginning.

Google is essentially bringing the same Google Play Games from your phone or Chrome OS device to the Windows ecosystem. This includes being able to earn Play Points as you reach various achievements in your favorite games. But of course, the options available in Play Games will need to be updated to make use of a mouse and keyboard instead of a touchscreen interface, which explains the limited run of titles at launch.

As we mentioned previously, you can sign up now to be notified as to when Google Play Games for Windows will be available in your region. Just hit the link below, and let the waiting game begin.
