TL;DR
  • Google has announced a limited Google Play Games for PC beta.
  • The beta is limited to Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan for now.
  • The beta works on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Back in December, Google announced Google Play Games would be coming to PCs as part of a standalone effort by the search company. It turns out we didn’t need to wait too long, as Google has just announced a limited beta test.

The Google Play Games for PC limited beta will take place in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, with users in these markets able to sign up for access via a form.

What should you expect from Google Play Games on PC?

The beta will offer access to “some of the most popular Google Play games in the world,” including Asphalt 9, Mobile Legends, Summoners War, State of Survival, and Three Kingdoms Tactics. Google confirmed users can download the games to a PC and play them with a keyboard and mouse. Google did not have any info to share with us about gamepad support, unfortunately.

Google did clarify what specs you’ll need to join the beta at first. However, do note that these required specs should get weaker over time. In other words, you can expect the needs of this beta to be higher than what you’ll need for the eventual stable product:

  • Windows 10+ (v2004)
  • 8 logical cores of CPU
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • Select gaming-class GPUs
  • Solid-state drive (SSD) with 20 GB of available storage space

In a fun little extra, Google added that players can earn Play Points on PC too.

It’s a little disappointing to see the likes of North America, Europe, India, and Africa not joining in the fun this time. But Google says it’ll have more info on future beta releases and regional availability soon.
