Free at-home COVID-19 tests available

The Mississippi Department of Health is working on a distribution plan for at-home COVID tests.

You can currently order tests online through the federal government. MSDH tells News 25 that at-home tests are reliable, but if a person tests negative and is symptomatic, they should be tested again in a few days.

In the meantime, quarantine yourself and follow all CDC guidelines.

Locally, staff at Singing River’s drive-through testing centers are performing 300 to 500 tests a day.

Tim West of Singing River Clinic Operations says the community is grateful for the hard work that staff puts in daily. “Singing River strong. They have been. They always will be. The team here at all three campuses, they’re resilient. They’re strong. Even though they’re fewer in numbers, they’re still doing the great work. It’s a blessing that omicron is relatively light for most people, but it is highly transmissible. We’re seeing just huge numbers right now.”

Up to four free COVID-19 at-home rapid tests can be ordered now from covidtests.org.
