Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Tim Metcalfe turned the tables on his wife Sally tonight (January 19) after she went to extreme measures.

Tim has been acting shifty around Sally lately after finding out his heart is really struggling and he really needs a triple bypass, not wanting sex and slipping into the office overnight. Sally understandably thinks that Tim might be having an affair, but then she makes the drastic move of installing a tracking app on Tim's phone.

In tonight's episodes, Sally saw Tim at a hotel on the app and tells Abi Webster that she's going to confront him. She turned up and saw him at a table with a bottle of fizz and two glasses and accused him of having a mistress.

That's when Tim revealed that the tracking app works both ways and he knew what she was up to, and bought the drink for the two of them to share. Sally's relieved that he isn't having an affair, but he still doesn't tell her what the true reason for his behaviour.

"I couldn't juggle two types of milk in the fridge, let alone another woman," he said. "I'd never cheat on you, Sally."

Later in the pub, Shona Platt told Abi she'd seen Tim spending a lot of time with Aggie Bailey (who knows about his condition). Abi didn't believe her at first, but she looked like she could be considering it, which would make Sally suspicious all over again if Abi were to bring it up.

Actress Sally Dynevor recently explained her character's emotional state, stating: "She is scared and feels guilty but also hurt, angry and confused about why he hadn't told her. What does that say about their relationship that he has kept it from her?"

"The issue is here that Tim has kept things from her before and she has forgiven him. But she really can't understand why he wouldn't tell her about this and that is going to be hard for her to cope with."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
