NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman was put into a chokehold before having her purse stolen inside a Queens subway station last week, according to police.

The incident happened Monday, Jan. 10 just before 10 a.m. at the entrance of the Grand Avenue subway station near Queens Boulevard in the Elmhurst neighborhood.

Authorities said the 38-year-old victim was entering the subway station when an unknown man approached from behind and placed his arm around her neck.

Amid a struggle, he forcibly removed her purse, which contained her passport and $1,000 in cash, according to authorities.

The attacker then fled on foot heading eastbound on Queens Boulevard.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

The attacker is described as a dark-skinned man, between 30 and 40-years-old, 6’ tall and 150-160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and jeans.
