After bursting onto the NHL scene last season with a hot start, Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman has been sent down to the Providence Bruins, something the 23-year-old tells me he is taking in stride.
"They believe in me, it's a great organization up there. I believe in them, and I want to be a Bruin for a long time and they do, too. Good, I know I can get better in certain areas and that's what I am doing here. And same with the NHL level, so I am going to do whatever I can to get back there and help this organization get wins," said Swayman.
"For Jeremy, he is going to have a long future in the NHL and this is just part of the process. We are happy to have him, but he is a big part of the goaltending future for the Bruins," said Providence Bruins head coach Ryan Mougenel..
Swayman made two starts for the PB's last weekend, including his very first appearance at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, despite playing for Providence most of last year. But they were playing up in Marlborough with no fans due to the pandemic.
"Great, a lot of good things to be said about the Dunk coming into it. The fans were awesome, I had a bunch of signs out there during warm ups. It was great interacting with all of them. I love this community, I love the city and they are so supportive of their Bruins. So it's awesome to be a part of," he said.
Swayman and the Providence Bruins will get back to work this Friday night at the Dunk.
