MLB Insider thinks St. Louis Cardinals should consider this Nolan Gorman trade

The St. Louis Cardinals have been linked to A’s star Frankie Montas, but a deal would appear to be unlikely. With Jack Flaherty on the Injured List, the St. Louis Cardinals pitching depth has been tested. In turn, they have seen some brilliant pitching performances from Miles Mikolas and Adam Wainwright. Dakota Hudson has pitched well after a slow start. But they have also seen struggles from Jordan Hicks and Steven Matz.

With Steven Matz injured, the St. Louis Cardinals rotation is in a precarious position as it waits to see how long the left-hander is out. We don’t know how long Steven Matz will be out. All we know is that he was removed after throwing only four pitches on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a shoulder injury that will require an MRI and has the St. Louis Cardinals organization holding its collective breath that it’s not serious.
