What shocking mystery will La Brea Season 2 solve? Will Chicago Fire‘s Severide literally put a ring on it? Which WCTH character will be seen in “a new light”? Read on for answers to those questions plus teases from other shows. (Email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
I am a fan of La Brea and I can’t really explain the state Season 1 left me in. Can you tell me what Season 2 will be about? –Jimmy
One Season 2 reveal promises to be shocking, literally. Meaning, we’ll find out who/what electrocuted poor Eddie near the clearing. “That is a mystery that is going to be a big part of Season 2, finding out who did that,” La Brea creator/co-showrunner David Appelbaum told me. “It’s going to be a threat to the people in the clearing and it’s going to reemerge as an important story point.” (La Brea Season 2 is anticipated to premiere this fall.)
I need WCTH scoop (on Lucas and Elizabeth), please!! Thank you! –Samantha
I relayed your Season 9 Q to When Calls the Heart star and executive producer Erin Krakow, and she wrote back, “We’ve seen the fire burn between these two for years, and this season (premiering March 6) is no exception! Lucas and Elizabeth are finally getting to explore and enjoy their relationship. We’re also getting to see Lucas in a new light — as father figure to Little Jack, who absolutely adores him!”
I loved the Christmas Dynasty episodes we got in December; any scoop on what’s to come (especially with the 100th episode this season)? –Kyle
Dynasty EP Josh Reims tells TVLine, “We have a big wedding planned for the 100th episode, though you’ll have to wait to find out whose wedding it is.”
Will we ever get to see Chicago Fire‘s Kelly give Stella the ring she was promised in the proposal episode? –Emma
I have 100-percent zero idea if this actually relates to your question at all, but it sure seems like a swanky occasion might be appropriate for such a moment. “There’s a storyline coming up with the Chicago Fire Department Gala, which we haven’t been able to do since COVID, which is a formal event. Everyone loves to see our characters dress up,” showrunner Derek Haas shares. “It’s definitely not going to go the way you think it’s gonna go.”
Since Jonathan Kent has recently been revealed to be bisexual in the comics, can we expect Superman & Lois to delve deeper into Jonathan’s sexuality? –Fatih
You probably shouldn’t expect the show to follow the comic’s lead per se. “We’re certainly not opposed to exploring it,” Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing told TVLine when we delivered your query. “But the way our character was set up, it feels like the comic book story and what we’re doing are two separate stories. I don’t think that we will, but we’re certainly not opposed to it.”
Anything to tide us over until The Flash returns (in March)? Maybe on Eddie’s return? –Leslie
As we reported in October, OG cast member Rick Cosnett will be back for a singular episode, appearing in a sort of flashback. And while he might possibly maybe have scenes with Iris (and/or maybe even her and Barry’s grown-up, time-traveling kids!), his path won’t cross with that of Barry Allen’s. “I only got to see Rick behind the scenes and hug him — and it felt like no time had passed,” Grant Gustin told me. “But unfortunately, we didn’t share any screen time during his return.”
In the Dec. 17 edition of Inside Line, we were told every ghost would appear on Ghosts after its winter break. But Flower and Sassapis weren’t in the latest episode (with Jay’s Sister)! What’s up with that?? –Nick
What’s “up” is that not enough context was given for that promise from EP Joe Wiseman. “I’m actually happy to announce that for the back order” — meaning, any episodes beyond No. 13, airing this Thursday — “we’re going to have every ghost in every episode, which is wonderful.”
Any teases for the Ordinary Joe finale? –Dawn
Series lead James Wolk describes Monday’s (season?) finale as a “beautiful “episode. “It ends on a high note,” he added, “and, like any good TV show, it leaves the audience wanting more. But it hopefully also provides some resolution on some of the things that we’ve been going through.”
Is there any word on when the second season of Undone may premiere on Amazon? –Rory
Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios’ head of global TV, told me that Undone Season 2 can be expected in “the first half” of 2022, whereas Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 3 will probably land in the “back half” of the year.
Any details on Shirley MacLaine’s Only Murders in the Building role? –Sammy
MacLaine will be guest-starring in Season 2 of the Hulu hit as a former resident of the Arconia who possesses information critical to the investigation, while Amy Schumer (whose casting Martin Short also let slip) will be playing… herself.
Is there any reason why NBC are holding onto one episode of The Wall, while repeatedly airing repeats? They are also sitting on two unaired episodes of Family Game Fight. –Aaron
That Wall straggler actually is scheduled to see the light of day on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 10/9c. And while I can confirm there are two unaired Game Fight eps, there is no word on them being scheduled.
Will Jaylin Fletcher be returning as Miles in Season 3 of Snowpiercer? I know he’s on L&O: Organized Crime now, but he played a prominent role in Season 1 and briefly appeared in Season 2. –Chloe
All I know is that I am three episodes into the new season (premiering Monday, Jan. 24 on TNT), and there hasn’t been so much as a reference to Miles. Yet. (Update: I am now hearing Miles will be seen later in Season 3.)
Any news on Avenue 5? It’s been, like, forever! –Paul
Season 2 of the HBO sci-fi comedy has been filmed, that much I can tell you!

Was Family Game Fight not super popular? I LOVED it!
I’m happy that La Brea is renewal. I can’t wait for season 2 to start.
I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get another season of Ordinary Joe. I’ll be honest – I let them build-up, two or three at a time before watching them.
I wonder if this is The Flash’s last season?
Nah, I think they’d decided in time to promote the heck out of it. I’m betting for next year being the final year.
WAR. As in, Wins Above Replacement. Sure, both Flash and LOT are aging horribly, but there is a strong chance that both get better ratings than whatever replaces them. LOT, in particular, is valuable as Spackle. Those are shows that can air in any timeslot, on any day, starting at any point during the season, which will get approximately the same ratings. They are super valuable because occasionally another show will bomb, and it needs to be replaced immediately (or injuries or illness or something can delay production on a show for a protracted time), which Spackle can do on a few weeks notice with minimal promotion. LOT, and Flash, have shed whatever large contracts they can without ending the show, and are now as cheap as it is possible to make a show that has 88+ eps in the can.
.
In today’s marketplace, today’s “hit” is likely to do the same numbers that a lower tier “success” did 10 years prior.
I think it and LoT have passed their expiration date but I think we would know by now if either were ending.
well id say we would know at the cw upfronts but we havent heard an announcement on that yet
I stopped watching Ordinary Joe. Following three stories never allowed me to become really invested in any one of them. About halfway through this series, I just stopped watching.
I agree, Ordinary Joe is just Way…. too confusing. Switching back and forth gave me a Huge headache. Please end this show and put it out of it’s misery.
Thank you. I’ve really been trying with this show. I’m about halfway through. I have to continually stop and remind myself what the characters’ relationships to each other are in each timeline and it’s just sucks the fun out of it. I’m still not sure what the blonde girl’s role is in each. Glad I’m not the only one. I’ll see it through but if this one season is it, I’m okay.
I’m the opposite. I feel like 10 episodes in I finally have the three storylines – and each player’s role – set in my head. I’m really enjoying it and hoping for another season, but agree it’s not looking likely.
Thanks for the confirmation. :)
finally remembered the mystery surrounding Eddie’s murder in La Brea, I began to think it would be an unanswered mystery. can’t wait for season two
Lol the Superman and Lois guy explaining theyr not against it like everyone will fly off the handle . This is the woke world we live in now
It’s all about the sound byte. If he simply says “no,” then people will start speculating why not.
…and if he clarifies why not, people apparently complain about about that too.
This is the whiny echo chamber of the internet.
What is woke? You prefer sleeping instead?
LOL. Love your response! I’m sick of hearing about “woke”, too. As far as I’m concerned, people need to go back to sleep since they’ve re-purposed that simple word into everything they say.
Why doesn’t S&L Helbing just say no, we are never gonna do that storyline? Instead of just dancing around it. No one who watches that show would be surprised.
Probably because the real answer is that the kids will be featured less and less as the adult characters and storylines move to the fore. The kids seemed like the least popular aspect of S1. Reducing them to bit players is smart. As such, they won’t rock the boat or do any outside the box thinking on this.
I wished we knew more about the threats barry and his friends face when the flash returns
I also wished more people asked tvline about legacies cause while its improving we’re still kept in dark lately and it bothers me.
My only question/concern regarding Ghosts is what happens when they run out of ghosts? There appears to be a particular number upstairs and an unknown number in the basement. How many stories can you run on that without (a) constantly ‘finding’ new ghosts or (b) repeating stories on the regular cast? Either one is a dead end. No pun intended.
Don’t forget that there are also an unspecified number of ghosts living outside on the grounds…
And also, new stories can involve living people too – like the teenage vandals and the zoning board neighbors. Especially if Sam and Jay ever officially get the B&B open.
The UK version so far has done 20 episodes and was renewed for a 4th season. Granted their seasons are shorter yet you can equate that to the episode count for S1 of the US version. They are still coming up with stories for their ghosts.
I don’t see a problem with “repeating” in the sense that we could get more backstory for each of the ghosts. And not everyone has had a flashback episode yet. There could be other ghosts who were “sucked off” 😉 and they could tell their stories to Sam and we see them as flashbacks.
I do think it’s early to have another ghost found on the grounds within the front half of the season. Sam can bump into ghosts anywhere she goes (as seen at the office she went to and the restaurant her mother died in). These ghosts knew about the ones in the shed and how there is a parlay once a year and never mentioned it. There’s a bubble they are contained in and not all of them venture much outside the home except for some on walks or when something special happens like the Viking funeral or the gazebo. What else is on those grounds? Who else died in the hundreds of years?
We have plenty of “living” stories as well. We have an upcoming wedding so plenty of guests and stories there, especially with the couple and other guests being friends with Sam and Jay. There are workers fixing up the place. Other family members come for a visit. A reviewer. Sam and Jay could hire someone to work there since it could be too much work for the two of them (cooking, cleaning, tending guests, etc).
There’s a lot of story left for both ghosts and the livings, I think.
I think they’ll do something by the end of S2 that allows the husband to see the ghosts as well. Her having to re explain to him what a ghost did/said is the sort of thing that is cute and quirky in S1, but is annoying as hades and widely decried at the start of S2.
.
I fully expect them to “pass on” one or two of the ghosts over the next few years, and bring on new ones, SOMEHOW, shortly thereafter.
.
This year, the hippy seems to add very little (this is the writing, not the performer), and the Native American is a character that can go very wrong, very quickly, and very easily. A few missteps in the writing room and YIKES.
Shows have done a lot with much fewer characters. (Seinfeld had 4 characters and literally no storyline.) There possibilities for Ghosts are endless – as long as the writers stay on top of their game.
Arrowverse does not follow the comics, so really no need for Jonathan to switch teams. I did think they might go that direction initially with Jordan but then he fell hard for Sarah. Now what’s up with Sarah is looking a bit different in S2.
It’s weird they are making Sarah gay when Jonathan bring gay would be a more impactful story and she’s also the only non-related potential love interest for the boys on the show. But the show does do it’s own thing.
Still no word on Soulmates S2 which supposed to come Q4/2021. Upload S2 has been shot ages ago. These long waits are becoming ridiculous.
Any news on more Blacklist seasons? I still enjoy the show.
After Stella’s overlong stay away from CFD and her failure to keep in touch with Severide, there is a definite coolness on his part. I also didn’t take it as a good sign when he asked her if she still wanted to marry him and she took so long to answer. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they don’t get married, if Stella takes an LT position at another house and Pelham stays at 51. I really do like Pelham.
I also like Pelham & hope that he remains at 51. I have never liked the Stella & Severide match…hopefully they will decide not to marry….& I wouldn’t be sad if Stella left the show!
I like her character, but don’t like the Severide/Kidd combo. Pelham is very easy on the eyes. :)
I like Kidd but don’t like how she is written to constantly lean on Severide and need his unwavering support to continue in her career. In fact, I like Kidd far more than I like or respect Severide and wish he would leave. Pelham is a fantastic character with room to grow, and Brett Dalton is a lead actor who could carry the show as it continues to age. I would like to see Squad be decommissioned, with Severide going to OFI and the rest being reassigned, since Cruz has nothing to do and Tony and Capp are recurring bit characters; Kidd could replace lunatic screaming Hermann as the Engine lieutenant; and Pelham would stay with Truck. Cruz could go back to Truck, I guess.
Of course Amy Schumer is playing herself. Wouldn’t expect anything more.
It is remarkable how far The CW will go to not have any gay or bi dudes on their shows. While getting GLAAD nominations. Insane.
Dafuq are you talking about? CW is one of the most progressive with that. In fact, S & L has Sarah come out as a lesbian.
Looking forward to Lucas and Elizabeth relationship in When Calls the Heart. And finally seeing them openly progress and show their love. And to see Lucas bonding with Little Jack. He is going to be a amazing father and partner. I loved and always felt it was Lucas for Elizabeth
agree
Hmm, I was kind of thinking Jonathan exploring his sexuality may have been the reason they ditched Tegan outta nowhere. Guess I was wrong.
Very excited to watch Lucas and Elizabeth’s relationship developments in S9. ❤ #LucaBeth
I love the message from Erin Krakow who plays Elizabeth on WCTH. I absolutely adore Lucas and Elizabeth and look forward to seeing them openly in love. I can hardly wait to see Lucas with Little Jack. I look forward to more love, more kisses, more Lucas, Elizabeth, and Little Jack.
Don’t care about Elizabeth & Lucas. I wanna see NEW love interest for Nathan, plus more Lee & Rosemary. I know Jessy & Clare are gone, but hope Carson & Henry come back to Hope Valley.
Wow, I thought Avenue 5 was cut because of covid. Nice to see that it’s not, It started slow but got much better as it went along.
I would like Ordinary Joe to end on a high note, but I’m not expecting much. Especially, if Cop Joe proposes to Amy. (as suggested in the preview) The show was supposed to be about who Joe ends up with in each timeline, but I feel like it’s just going to be Amy in all timelines. Not a fan of Amy. Not a show I want to continue watching.
What’s next for our kind of people and queen I love ❤️ brandy eve is good 😊
Having each Joe “color-coded” in Ordinary Joe has really helped my viewing of this show. Blue is the cop, etc. Otherwise, my head would be spinning.
Hello,
Is there any indication that there will
be a second season of “Dispatches
From Elsewhere’?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
