The NBA will feature this late-night interconference matchup on Wednesday! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Pacers-Lakers prediction and pick.

The Indiana Pacers are starting to fall apart if they haven't already broken. They are just 15-29 and can not beat anyone right now. Their last win came against the Utah Jazz, but the Jazz were without Rudy Gobert and Domantas Sabonis had the game of his life because of it. He ended with 42 points off 18-22 shooting. Indiana is 13th in the Eastern Conference right now and has a long season ahead. This could be a team that is sellers before the NBA trade deadline.

As for the Los Angeles Lakers, they are also struggling this season. Everyone predicted them to be one of the top teams in the West, but instead are 22-22 and 7th in the conference. The good news is that they are 15-11 at home this year and they need a win badly. Head coach Frank Vogel is on the hot seat right now, but his former team could be the ones who get him booted.

Why The Pacers Could Cover This Spread

This is a team that doesn't have very long to get it together. They also might not have much longer together as a group because of the recent trade rumors. So with that being said, the Pacers need a win and this can be a great opportunity for it. They are without Myles Turner, so their frontcourt will be in trouble. The good news is that Caris Levert is back and healthy and he scored 26 points off 50% shooting last game in the loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Pacers are 1-9 in their last 10 games. They are allowing an abysmal 114 points per game which is not good at all. The good news is the Lakers are also allowing 114 points per game over their last 10. Neither side has been able to defend well. That is largely in fact because of the absences to Anthony Davis and Turner. Those two are the foundation of each team's defense and they are hurting without them. If the Pacers want to cover this spread, they must defend better than they have and find a way to force the Lakers to commit turnovers.

Why The Lakers Could Cover This Spread

LA should be able to cover this spread. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games even though it seems like it's worse than that. The Lakers got smoked by the Denver Nuggets two games ago 133-96. They bounced back with a win over the Utah Jazz which saved them from losing four-straight. LA needs this win badly. They are still in a position where they can move up in the standings. But it has to be now. They have a difficult schedule coming up, facing four teams in a row with a winning record after the Orlando Magic. If the Lakers don't get it together, they could fall below .500 very quickly.

The Lakers will need to win this game the same way they won the last one. It's going to come from the defensive effort and they need the Pacers to force up bad shots. On offense, LA desperately needs to improve their three-point shooting. They shot just 11-37 in the win over the Jazz which was the reason why they barely escaped with the win. The Lakers are far better at home, so that will be to their advantage against the Pacers. Head coach Frank Vogel can not let the Pacers be the team to put them below .500, or else he could be in trouble. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook need to find their connection ASAP because they could be running out of time together.

Final Pacers-Lakers Prediction & Pick

This seems to be in the Lakers' favor tonight. Indiana is better against the spread at 21-20-1 on the year while the Lakers are 17-25. That makes it tougher for bettors to consider the Lakers here, but they are the right call. They should have no issue winning this game by at least five points. I do, however, think this will be a low-scoring game, so consider the under here as well.

Final Pacers-Lakers Prediction & Pick: Lakers -5 (-106) & under: 225 (-110)
