OneHockey World announces international tournaments in Omaha

OneHockey World, an international host of premier youth hockey tournaments since 2004 announced Wednesday the Omaha International Invitationals will be held at the Liberty Union Arena in October 2022 and January 2023.
“We are thrilled to bring international hockey to Omaha. With teams from Russia, Czech Republic, Canada, and many other locations around the world, the Omaha International Invitationals will introduce worldwide talent to sports lovers in the Omaha community,” said Sebastien Fortier, founder and CEO of OneHockey World.
At a news conference Wednesday Mark Rath, director of sports at Visit Omaha; Sebastien Fortier, CEO of OneHockey World; Erin Kloke, tournament coordinator for OneHockey World, and Felix Underman, deputy chief of staff for Congressman Don Bacon all spoke on the announcement.
Kloke said the hope is to attract local schools to the games through field trips.
"The opportunity for local schools to learn about the culture, people, and sports of an international sports team is unique. We hope kids from the metro area will be excited to watch world-class hockey come to Omaha and that schools will embrace the built-in learning opportunities these events provide," Kloke said.
The 2010 and 2011 Elite AAA Divisions will compete Oct. 19-23, 2022, with the 2012 and 2013 Elite AAA teams competing Jan. 25-29, 2023. Team applications and additional information can be found on the OneHockey World website, www.onehockey.com.
