A highly anticipated ice castle experience is finally set to open this weekend in the Adirondack town of Lake George.
The Lake George Ice Castles in Charles Wood Park will open for the first time to the public on Sunday, January 23. Tickets will go on sale online at icecastles.com/new-york at 8 p.m., on Wednesday, January 19.
Prices for tickets will be $15-$20 on weekdays and $22-$27 on weekends. If they’re not sold out, tickets may be available at the front entrance and are subject to higher rates. Organizers encourage people to purchase advance tickets for guaranteed entry at the best price.
The artisans from the Utah-based company were hard at work in Upstate New York building hand-carved slides, tunnels, fountains, crawl spaces, caverns, and intricately designed ice thrones near the shore of Lake George. Visiting the castle at night will completely transform the experience into a colorful explosion with embedded LED lights creating a beautiful, enchanting rainbow glow.
Each castle is approximately one acre in size and consists of more than 25 million pounds of carefully carved ice.
