Jordan Davis Surprises Couple at Their Wedding to Sing ‘Buy Dirt’

Jordan Davis made a newly-married couple very happy over the weekend when he surprised them at their wedding to sing “Buy Dirt” as their first dance song. The surprise came about after Davis appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Soon after his performance, he learned that a couple being married only 30 minutes away in New Jersey planned to dance to the recorded version of the tune. Davis and his team then decided to make a quick stop at the wedding reception to play the song live.

In a video posted to social media, Davis drives to the wedding and gears up for the big surprise. He then walks out in the middle of the reception and performs an acoustic version of the song while the happy couple slow dances along.

“When a trip to play on @fallontonight turns into a wedding gig…congrats Claudia and JD,” Davis wrote alongside the video.

Davis released “Buy Dirt,” a duet with Luke Bryan, on July 19, 2021. The song is featured on his EP of the same name, and it was written by Davis, his brother Jacob, Josh Jenkins and Matt Jenkins. The song preaches the importance of settling down and raising a family, and Davis says he chose to include Bryan on the tune because his fellow singer represents those values.

“We sat around the fire after a golf tournament one day, smoking cigars and talking about everything but music,” Davis told SLN of the song. “That conversation always stuck with me. Luke isn’t just a great entertainer; he’s a great Dad, a great husband, and a great friend, too. That’s what ‘Buy Dirt’ embodies. When I wrote ‘Buy Dirt,’ I knew he could relate to the song’s message.”
