*Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home below!*

Just when you thought you’d heard the last of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield comes through with some behind-the-scenes secrets in his latest interview. When he was a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Andrew admitted that his costar Zendaya was actually the mastermind behind one of the funniest scenes in the movie.

You’re probably wondering what the scene in question might be. When a hesitant MJ wants to make sure that Andrew’s Spider-Man is legit, she chucks a piece of bread at him while he’s suited up. She believed that if he actually possessed Spidey senses, his reflexes would help him dodge whatever came his way. However, bread wasn’t originally part of the plan.

“At first, Zendaya picks up a candlestick or something to, like, threaten me with in that first scene where I come in, but then there was this basket of bread,” Andrew explained. “That was her just going, ‘Can I just throw bread at him?’ and [director] Jon [Watts] was like, ‘Yeah, throw bread at him.’” Andrew went on to describe how the experience felt like “kids just playing.”

All the live-action Spider-Men we’ve seen on the silver screen over the years—Andrew, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland —come together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Andrew starred in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel in the 2010s. He was supposed to star in a third film, but it was scrapped when the first two didn’t outperform the previous trilogy. Andrew revealed that being part of the latest Marvel film was “healing” as his experience was cut short.

“Coming back and actually getting some more time to have fun with it and to give the character some closure and to play and to be the version of Spider-Man that I was always wanting to get to and to be with Tobey and Tom and the rest of everybody in the movie, that was healing and just an incredible full-circle moment,” Andrew said.
