Juan Uribe Jr., son of the former Chicago White Sox World Series shortstop, is part of the 2022 class of Dominican players looking to sign with MLB teams. According to reports from Hector Gomez, multiple teams are interested. For Juan Uribe Sr., there is only one team he has in mind.

“Several teams have shown interest in my son, but I would like him to sign with the White Sox because he was born and raised in Chicago and I played for them for five seasons. I love White Sox fans,” Uribe Sr. said.

This statement comes as no surprise since Uribe has been loved by Sox fans even after he left the team and played for the Mets.

Juan Uribe Jr.

Uribe Jr. looks like a chip off the old block. Comparisons are very similar to Sr.’s playing days with the Rockies and the White Sox. Uribe Jr. looks appears to possess good range and a strong arm at shortstop.

At the plate, Uribe Jr. bats from the right side. His swing varies from his father’s, but it still looks smooth and has the same pop.

White Sox Opportunity

The 2022 international signing window opened on Jan. 15. In the past, the White Sox have utilized this time period to build a strong pipeline between both the Dominican Republic and Cuba. This year, the Sox have already signed Cuban star Oscar Colas.

The White Sox can always use middle infield depth. The Sox developed both Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada through their system and Uribe Jr. could be next should the organization oblige Uribe Sr.’s desires.

Second base and right field are the biggest holes on the White Sox roster currently. One spitball idea is moving Anderson to right, which could accelerate the need for more middle infield depth. Regardless of what happens, the Uribes will always have a legacy on the South Side of Chicago.
