The founder and CEO of a company who became known for firing approximately 900 of his employees on a Zoom call in December is now returning to his job at the company.
We reported in December when Vishal Garg apologized after he abruptly fired hundreds of people over the video conferencing app while accusing the employees of working only two hours a day and “stealing” from co-workers and customers.
Better, an online mortgage company, said they had an outside law firm review their workplace culture, and are implementing changes which include hiring more managers and a chief human resources officer, CNN reported.
In an email to staff, Better.com’s board said, “As you know, Better’s C.E.O Vishal Garg has been taking a break from his full-time duties to reflect on his leadership, reconnect with the values that make Better great and work closely with an executive coach,” The New York Times reported.
In his own letter to employees, Garg wrote: “I understand how hard these past few weeks have been. I am deeply sorry for the angst, distraction and embarrassment my actions have caused. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about where we are as a company and the type of leadership Better needs … and the leader I want to be,” CNN reported.
