Art works from more than 1,000 Central New York students were selected for prizes in the 2022 CNY Scholastic Art Awards, sponsored by M&T Bank and hosted by Onondaga Community College.
Thousands of students from 14 counties around Central New York submitted artwork for consideration.
In all, students submitted more than 4,600 pieces. A panel of 40 judges, made up of art professionals, judged the pieces and selected 1,103 works for Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention awards.
Gold Key winners will be submitted to a national competition in the spring. Many received cash prizes and other recognition.
About 1,300 of the pieces will be on display at the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College through March 4.
The Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse will also display select works, from March 12 to April 10. A virtual awards ceremony is planned for mid-February. Ceremony information will be available on the CNY Scholastic Art updates page, www.artandwriting.org/regions/NY003A
In addition to student awards, Katie Sullivan, of New Hartford Central School, was presented the Teacher Inspiration Award.
