Hopefully, Megan Fox never needs to take off her new engagement ring for an MRI or to wash the dishes, or else she’s going to be in for a world of pain.

Apparently, her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly designed her custom ring so that it’s actually painful to remove. The couple spoke to Vogue at the Dolce & Gabanna fall 2022 menswear show on Saturday about their relationship and that massive new bauble on Fox’s finger. The musician pointed out that his design features “bands [that] are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts,” adding, “Love is pain!” He went on to highlight some other unique elements of his fiancée’s ring, explaining, “It’s a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment. It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine. And the diamond was directly from [jeweler] Stephen [Webster].” He continued, “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart.”

This is hardly the first time MGK has spoken at length about the piece of jewelry he designed especially for his bride-to-be in partnership with Webster. Following his proposal at the beginning of the month after one year of dating, he posted a close-up video of the ring on Fox’s hand on his Instagram account. “I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” he wrote in the caption alongside the clip. Webster also told People about the custom design, “By the use of magnets buried within the gold, [the rings] are attracted to each other and sit together perfectly on the finger. [It’s] a detail that is both modern and quite extraordinary.”
