AMI’s Alexandre Mattiussi calls his brand a “family affair” and for the autumn/winter 2022 show, following the label’s 10th anniversary, the designer called in fashion’s finest – and a few surprises – to demonstrate the universal appeal of the AMI clan.

Of course when Isabelle Huppert and Carla Bruni are in charge of the invitations, it’s always going to be fabulous. The impossibly chic French favourites alerted fans to the travel-themed Paris show via a series of Instagram clips directing them to board the line at precisely 1.30pm on 19 January. On the (metaphorical) train? Top models Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve, Mariacarla Boscono and Edie Campbell, who all did AMI’s particular brand of cool justice on the runway.

Mattiussi tasked Emily Ratajkoswki, who made a handful of memorable catwalk exits during the spring/summer 2022 shows, with putting a sassy spin on AMI’s signature tomboyish suiting (wave au revoir to the bottoms and just do the blazers), while Isabelle Adjani threw her weight behind the theory that French women do tailoring best.

The menswear shows aren’t normally as starry at their womenswear counterparts, but after some seasons starved of glamour, fashion is getting its fix where it can. As EmRata shows, the allure of Paris is always worth flying in for.
