Two people have been detained after an anonymous threat forced several Denton schools into lockdown this morning.
Police say a phone call came in threatening Denton High and Ryan High, specifically. Both schools were put on lockdown, and as a precaution three other DISD schools were placed on soft lockouts: Guyer High, Calhoun Middle and Newton Rayzor Elementary.
Terrified parents gathered outside Denton High, anxiously waiting for their kids to be released.
“I can’t do this,” one mother says. “It’s scary because you just don’t know.”
Another says she wasn’t surprised to get the nightmarish text from her son, telling her they were in lockdown.
“Quite frankly, it happens all the time,” she says. “That’s the state of things. I asked my son if he was scared and he said, ‘No, we’re all pretty used to it.’”
Police say one person was detained at Denton High, one was detained at Ryan High. Both campuses are being searched for weapons.
Officials say there were no injuries and everyone’s safe.
Denton ISD released the following statement Wednesday.

"Guyer High, Calhoun Middle and Newton Rayzor Elementary schools were placed on a soft lockout of an abundance of caution.
