Off the heels of their second loss in a row, the Detroit Pistons look to get back on the winning side of things in the second game of their California trip, as they head to the state’s capital to meet with the Sacremento Kings on Wednesday.
After falling to the league-leading Phoenix Suns on Sunday, the Pistons hit the road to meet with the no. 2 team in the NBA on Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors. A rough first half did not help Detroit’s cause, as they trailed the Warriors by 28 at halftime. Despite outscoring Golden State, 48-37 in the final two quarters, the damage had been done, as the Pistons fell by a final score of 102-86.
Five Pistons hit double-digits in the loss, including Rodney McGruder, who stuck with the team after a trade with the Denver Nuggets was voided. He ended up leading to the Pistons with 19 points off the bench, with Hamidou Diallo chiming in with 16.
The Pistons now get a little reprieve on Wednesday, as they take on the Kings who are a little further down the Western Conference standings. Sacremento currently sits 11th in the West, just a half-game back of the Portland Trail Blazers, who hold the last spot of Play-In seeding. The Kings are looking to get back on the winning track themselves after falling to the Houston Rockets this past Sunday.
