It is being widely reported that ex-Liverpool player, Luis Suarez, would like to join forces once again with his old team-mate, Steven Gerrard, at Aston Villa. However, only once the season ends and the summer window reopens will he decide on his next career step.

Luis Suarez has long been the subject of a return to the English Premier League following his departure from Barcelona in the summer of 2020 but, chose to stay put in Spain and set up shop over in Madrid with Atletico.

After winning the Spanish top-flight with Los Colchoneros last season and netting 21 goals in their winning campaign, the prolific Uruguayan striker has decided it will be his final six months with them.

As per the Suarez reports: the striker has his mind made up on his next move and has snubbed a host of clubs to make sure he completed his desired switch — which is back in England — and with his old team-mate Gerrard running the show at Villa Park.

Luis Suarez has so far rejected multiple offers so he can join Aston Villa

The former Liverpool man is said to have rejected several offers from clubs for a January move; Juventus, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro, are the clubs wanting to steal him away from  Atletico Madrid. This is to ensure he is fully focused on a return to England.

The idea of working once again with Gerrard is the compelling factor and why he is so eager to block all moves abroad and make Villa the priority. Sadly, it is not a transfer for January but for the summer window that follows after rather — where he will be a free agent and able to join whoever.

Marca reports suggest otherwise:

"Luis Suarez wants to renew his Atletico Madrid contract beyond 2022. Confident that he can keep performing at the highest level, Suarez would like to stay at Atletico Madrid beyond the summer of 2022.That’s when the two-year contract he signed after arriving from Barcelona is due to expire, but he hopes to stay at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano longer than that. There is a long way to go before the current campaign concludes, so many things could change on the way to the end of the season.
