As the Edmonton Oilers continue to slide in the standings having won just twice in their last 14 games (2-10-2) the frustration is mounting.

In just the last week, both Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have voiced their concerns about losing. Today after practice, Draisaitl had just about enough questions and snapped at a reporter.

Leon Draisaitl snaps at Jim Matheson

Edmonton Journal reporter Jim Matheson asked Draisaitl what one thing in particular the Oilers could improve upon.

“We have to get better at everything,” he said.

When Matheson asked him to expand on that, Draisaitl was in no mood to oblige which set off a heated exchange.

“No — you can do that,” he snapped. “You know everything.”

Instead of letting it end there, Matheson came back wanting to know why he was “so pissy”?

“I’m not,” Draisaitl countered. “I gave you an answer.”

Draisaitl, 26, has 26 goals, and 28 assists for 54 points in 35 games this season.

You can see the full exchange in the clip below starting at 2:18.

Marchand and Trocheck exchange jabs

Word travels fast in the NHL.

Today in Carolina, a reporter asked Vincent Trocheck if he felt his game was comparable to Bruins’ forward Brad Marchand.

“Are you calling me a rat,” he quipped.

Marchand is the NHL’s super-pest. He’s earned that nickname for the way he plays and to some extent his very pronounced snout.

In a now removed Instagram post Marchand snapped back and said: “That’s like comparing a Lambo to a Prius.”

While Marchand did not post any photos of fine Italian sports car, he did take snapshots of both their career stats. Marchand has 758 points in 834 games to Trocheck’s 351 in 509.

I see his point — to a degree.
