WALTER Refers To Himself As Gunther Following Victory Over Roderick Strong On 1/18 NXT 2.0

WALTER is Gunther. Gunther is WALTER.

On January 18, NXT 2.0 was headlined by a clash between WALTER and Roderick Strong. The match came about after a WALTER confrontation with Malcolm Bivens ended with Roderick Strong saying that he is not afraid of the former NXT UK Champion.

The two men traded chances throughout the match, with Strong's chest getting particularly beat up with chops. In the end, WALTER emerged victoriously, much to the chagrin of Mr. Bivens. After the bell rang, WALTER grabbed a microphone and said, "The winner of this match is Gunther," and then proceeded to toss the mic away.

Fabian Eichner and Marcel Barthel of Imperium then came to the ring and began attacking Strong. Julius and Brutus Creed came to their fellow Diamond Mine member's defense and the two factions fought as the show went off the air.

Earlier today it was reported that WWE had filed to trademark 'Gunther Stark.' Learn more here.

At this time, it is unclear what WALTER meant by his post-match statement or if he will be utilizing the aforementioned name moving forward, though Fightful will continue to monitor the situation and keep you apprised of any developments.
