LOS ANGELES (KNX) — The Dodgers announced Brandon Gomes as General Manager Tuesday, as the former big league pitcher marked just about six years with the organization.

The former Vice President of the team becomes the 12th GM in L.A. Dodgers History.

37-year-old Gomes has been in the organization since 2016, according to Juan Toribio with the Major League Baseball organization. He was formerly a pitcher with the Tampa Bay Rays.

"Gomes becomes the first Dodgers GM to work under president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman since Farhan Zaidi left the organization to run the Giants following the 2018 season," Toribio reported.

“I’m thrilled to announce the promotion of Brandon to general manager, as he has been an integral part of our success since joining the Dodgers in 2016,” Friedman said in a statement. “I look forward to our continued partnership as we strive for another world championship.”

Gomes wasn't the only notable change among the Dodgers' ranks. He was promoted along with:
-Alex Slater, was promoted from director of baseball operations to assistant general manager
-Brandon McDaniel, was promoted to vice president of player performance
-Thomas Albert, was promoted to head athletic trainer
-Damon Jones, joins the team as an assistant general manager, vice president and Baseball Legal Counsel, according to the team.
