Although Mandy Moore's time playing Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us is coming to an end this spring when the NBC show wraps up, the actress is already getting ready for her next big adventure.
On January 7, Mandy shared on Instagram a photograph of herself in a recording session with a caption revealing details about some new music she's been working on with her husband, singer Taylor Goldsmith, and musician Mike Viola.
“Nearly 2 years ago, my first record in 11 years came into the world," Many declared. "We were 4 days away from leaving for my first tour since 2007 when the pandemic shut the world down. It was hard to sort through the myriad of emotions of what it took to make that music: the disappointment and sorrow of unfulfilled dreams….all while we were collectively grappling with and grieving the tragedy unfolding around the globe. So I turned back to music because that was the only catharsis I could find while stuck at home."
Mandy went on to explain in the post that she started her new record during a monumental time in her life as well, which was marked by becoming parents to her and Taylor's son, August "Gus" Harrison, last February. She also teased that the new music would be released "very soon" and a tour would follow.
Fans and celebrities were ecstatic to learn that Mandy is returning to music. Influencer Nabela commented: "This is the best news to end the week! So proud, and so excited!" Meanwhile, Mandy's This Is Us costar Eris Baker was also fangirling over her TV grandmother's announcement. "I will be front row at the tour," Eris gushed.
As Mandy was being praised by her friends and peers, fans also reflected on how moved they were by Mandy's 2020 album Silver Landings. One fan commented: "Silver Landings will always hold such a special place in my heart. it helped me so much during the pandemic and i’ll forever be grateful for the comfort your songs gave during such an awful time ❤️🩹 I can’t wait to see what you came up with for the next record! xxx"
