Disclaimer: This article is for fun. What I’ll be putting on blast is the idea of the tweet itself, not the man behind it. While the idea is dumb, that doesn’t make the man behind the tweet stupid, dumb or any other mean word. If you decide to ratio him, make sure that it’s in a playful manner, because being a meanie on Twitter isn’t cool.

The tweet heard around the Baseball World:

Do you ever just read a short form media post and figure that the world is actually burning? Well, then you know the feeling I had when I woke up this morning and read this tweet.

Not a big issue, right? I recently worked on an article that went through each AL East team’s infield, and while Gio Ureshela should not be a starter, he suffices as a utility player. However, the Yankees have one of the worst infields in the East and with Gio Urshela starting at short, that is a position needing of an upgrade.

Instead of going down the usual path of “oh, let’s just spend half a billion dollars on [insert player name here]”, Xaiver decides to tweet that the Yankees should look for a replacement through trade. His suggestion? Well, read below

Even I have the issue of not fully thinking through a tweet before I press the send button, but this is a whole new level of “there’s still time to delete this”. This also begs multiple questions:

Why would the Jays trade an all-star calibre shortstop?

They wouldn’t. There’s no long winded explanation for this, Bo Bichette is not on the market.

Why would they trade him to the Yankees, who are in the same division?

When both teams are playoff teams, no trade would happen. There’s a difference when the Jays were rebuilding and Happ was a trade piece and now.

Bichette is 23 and is already a five war player, would they be able to replace him?

No.

He’ll hit free agency in 2026, why would the Jays want to move a young all-star with loads of potential when he is cheap for the next five seasons?

Again, they wouldn’t. While I’m sure Xaiver is a nice guy, this tweet ain’t it.

What do the Yankees have to offer?

If we’re being honest, not a whole lot. Anthony Volpe is the Yankees best prospect with 60 future value, according to Fangraphs. However, the farm is pretty thin on prospects after Volpe. Furthermore, Volpe is a shortstop who is projected to be ready in 2024.

If the Yankees want to send Volpe, Judge, Cole and Severino with all of their contracts paid, that’s something I would consider. For the one Yankee fan reading this that objects to that, now you know how Jays fans feel when Bo Bichette’s name came up.

What is Xaiver’s justification for the Jays willing to move on from Bichette?

“The Jays should trade their 5 WAR, 23-year-old shortstop because they have two promising prospects who are at least two seasons away”.

It may not occur to Xaiver, but the Jays are actually better than the Yankees. Why would Toronto shoot themselves in the foot by creating a massive hole in one of the most important positions on the field?

Be polite:

Anyway, if you do follow up on the tweets, make sure to keep it light. You will probably roast him, but don’t forget that Xaiver is also a human being and probably doesn’t enjoy being harassed. Just like me, takes like this are how you gain a following (granted, I’m usually right). If you do decide to tweet to Xaiver, make sure that you are kind.

With all that being said, thank you for reading this. It’s nice to jump on fun tweets on occasion. Let me know if you’d like more. As always, follow me on Twitter @Brennan_L_D where you can roast me (politely) whenever I’m incorrect.
