Despite Microsoft’s acquisition, Activision Blizzard’s games could still come to PlayStation consoles.

A source close to Bloomberg  said that Microsoft plans to make “some” Activision Blizzard available games on PS4 and PS5. Given that titles like Overwatch  and Call of Duty  are  hugely popular FPS titles  on PlayStation, it’ll be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Microsoft’s head of gaming Phil Spencer claims the company doesn’t want to tear people away from  Sony’s consoles.

“Activision Blizzard games are enjoyed on a variety of platforms and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward,” Spencer said in a  press release. “As a company, Microsoft is committed to our journey for inclusion in every aspect of gaming, among both employees and players.”

While that sentiment is appreciated, it doesn’t clarify much. Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, Spencer hinted that Elder Scrolls 6  would be an Xbox exclusive. Same for the upcoming RPG  Starfield.

Spencer did not mince words about  Xbox Game Pass getting a truckload  of Activision Blizzard games soon, though.

“Until this transaction closes, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Gaming will continue to operate independently,” Spencer states. “We will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog.” 

Questions regarding Xbox exclusivity on Activision Blizzard titles will be lingering about for a long time, in all likelyhood.
