Free antigen tests can be found at your local health unit or through some other organizations that are helping distribute them in the River Valley."Monday we handed 1,009 tests. There are 2 tests per box. We can issue one box per person or up to three boxes or six tests per family per day," said Michelle Hammer, with the Crawford County Health Unit in Van Buren. "You can come to the side entry and ring the doorbell and we will hand you the tests right there."Free tests are also being handed out at the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.On Tuesday, cars lined up in front of the Sebastian County Health Unit in Fort Smith for the free tests. Emergency managers told 40/29 News the River Valley region received 638 cases of the tests that were purchased by the state for free distribution."I see a lot of grateful citizens in our city, and I definitely think they're very grateful they're able to obtain them in their neighborhood and on this side of town. Often times the underserved are often forgotten and not thought about specifically," said Patti Kimbrough, executive director of the Good Samaritan Clinic in Fort Smith.The clinic is planning its fourth drive-thru test giveaway at 10 a.m. Wednesday."We got 900 more (tests) today, so yeah, it's pretty crazy. And you have to think about, there's two tests in every one. So if you look at it specifically, that's 4,000 tests we've distributed just out of our little corner of the world over here on 6th and B Street," Kimbrough said.Since the clinic is seeing patients Wednesday, drivers who are seeking free COVID-19 tests are asked not to clog up the parking lot."We're really going to try and keep everyone on B Street and just keep the party moving. We'll be out there on the corner of 7th and B Street Wednesday morning and hopefully we can get them into the hands of people who need them," Kimbrough said.In Fort Smith, free tests are also available at the public library.
