DEER VALLEY, Utah — For the ninth year in a row, at the World Ski Awards, the winner of the United States of America’s Best Ski Resort for 2021 was Deer Valley Resort.

The awards have only been held for nine years making Deer Valley Resort the only American resort winner in its history.

Winning in the category of Best Ski Hotel was the Stein Eriksen Lodge.

And winning for the Best Ski Boutique Hotel was the Lodge at Blue Sky unseating last year’s category winner, The Goldener Hirsch. The Washington School House had won in a previous year.

The top three resorts in the world were:

  • Verbier (Switzerland)
  • Kitzbühel (Austria)
  • Val Thorens (France)

Global regions are broken down into: Asia/Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.

The Stein Eriksen Lodge was also a top-three winner for World’s Best Ski Hotel.

Other United Stated winners included the Montage Big Sky in Montana grabbing a podium spot in the category of Worlds Best New Ski Hotel.

The Hotel Terra Jackson Hole in Wyoming was a top-three winner for World’s Best Green Ski Hotel.

Aspen Snowmass landed in the top three for World’s Best Ski Resort Company.

Chair lifts, heliskiing, and travel agents are some of the other categories for which people could vote.

The voting methodology is simple; votes are cast by professionals working within the ski industry — senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media — and by the public (ski tourism consumers). Votes are submitted online at World Ski Awards website. The voting works on a first-past-the-post system to ensure impartiality and independence.
