NBC 5’s Ben Russell reports on the number of North Texas school districts forced closed Friday due to COVID-19 cases among students and staff.
The recent surge in COVID-19 cases, fueled by the omicron variant, is forcing some school districts to close specific campuses or even entire districts.

Campbell ISD
Campbell ISD has canceled all classes from Thursday, Jan. 13 through Friday, Jan. 21. Classes will resume Monday, Jan. 24.

Garland ISD
Due to a mechanical failure with the heating system, there will be no school for Keeley Elementary or Luna Elementary Friday, January 21. Classes will resume Monday, January 24.
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD announced all campuses and facilities will be closed Thursday, January 20 and Friday, January 21. In-person instruction will resume on Monday, January 24. More information can be found on the GCISD website.
Princeton ISD
Because of the rising number of COVID cases in the district, Princeton ISD has made the decision to close campuses for the next three days. Schools and offices will be closed Friday-Tuesday, Jan. 21-25. Students and staff will return to campus Wednesday, Jan. 26. High school extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled. Middle school games scheduled for tonight (Jan. 20) will still be played.
Weatherford ISD
Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the impact this is having on daily operations, all Weatherford ISD schools and buildings will be closed Wednesday, January 19 through Friday, January 21. Students and staff are scheduled to return to campuses on Monday, January 24.
