If you found yourself doing a double take or two during the series premiere of How I Met Your Father, you’re not the only ones. For weeks I found myself asking, “Is that Leighton Meester?” when the Gossip Girl alum randomly appeared as Meredith in my very early screenings of the series. To be honest, I figured it was just me still crying over the finale of Single Parents. But no, the powers that be behind How I Met Your Father are finally confirming her involvement in the series.
TVLine confirmed the news and noted that she will appear throughout the show’s first season. According to Jesse, played by Veronica Mars and GLOW star Chris Lowell, Meredith is off recording her new album in Europe after saying no to his public proposal and turning him into a viral star.
Does this mean Jesse will take a trip to Europe to try to win her back? Or will Meredith be back in NYC and rock his world with her new tunes? We’re going to have to wait and see since all the details about Leighton’s character are under wraps.
The highly anticipated How I Met Your Mother spin-off finally premiered on Hulu on January 18 with the first two episodes. The series, How I Met Your Father, will drop an episode a week, so fans should definitely tune back in if they want to see what happens next to Sophie, played by Hilary Duff, and her new NYC BFFs as they try to figure out the local dating scene.
