Carl Radke Reveals What Convinced Him to Rekindle His Romance with Lindsay Hubbard

The Summer House cast member also makes a major clarification about their new relationship.

Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard are officially a couple, but this is, of course, not the first time things have gotten romantic between the two of them. The Summer House cast members previously tried dating in Season 4, but they ultimately decided to just remain friends.

How to Watch

Watch Summer House on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

So, when Carl appeared with Kyle Cooke on the January 17 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the titular host wanted to know what sparked romance between the pair once again. "Yeah, I mean, this is, like, kind of a culmination toward the end of the summer. Kyle and Amanda [Batula]'s wedding, obviously there's love in the air. That was definitely where it kind of was, like, there are some feelings, and I was looking at her differently," Carl explained in the above clip. "I was holding back a little bit just because I was scared. You know, it's a scary thing, pursuing your best friend."

But Carl's romantic feelings for Lindsay go back even before Kyle and Amanda's September nuptials. "I think she actually was on Watch What Happens Live with you last year, and she came down after the interview to show me what she was wearing, and I was like, holy cow," Carl recalled to Andy Cohen. "I mean, she looked beautiful, she looked gorgeous, and that kind of made me think a little bit differently then."

Lindsay later confirmed in her Instagram Stories that it was her look from her February 11, 2021 virtual appearance on WWHL that she proudly showed off to Carl, who lives in the same apartment building. "I will say, I went down to his apartment immediately after taping WWHL that day (almost a year ago now)," Lindsay said on Instagram. "I couldn't wait to show him my look/outfit."

Though Lindsay had told Page Six that she and Carl "don’t really talk in labels," Carl confirmed on WWHL that he and Lindsay are "girlfriend-boyfriend." But heading into this season of Summer House, Carl said that they weren't exactly looking for love with each other. "I went into this summer thinking Lindsay's gonna have her fun. She was dating around. I was certainly open to dating other people," he said. "I've always wanted her to be really happy and just see her have the best summer of her life."

(In case you're wondering, Carl also addressed if he and Lindsay hooked up at all during this season of Summer House, which you can find out, above.)

As for why he and Lindsay are able to make a relationship work this time around, Carl said that it may have something to do with his sobriety. "Yeah, I think because I'm clear-headed, I'm a little more composed, I have patience, and I'm able to communicate a little bit more effectively, which I think for her is important because she likes consistency," Carl shared. "When I'm sober, I'm just very consistent, which is what she needs."

Carl shared a similar sentiment while opening up about his and Lindsay's new relationship after the WWHL audience agreed in a poll that they are "a good match." "It's worked out really well. We're in a new space, I'm in a great place. I mean, listen, we have an amazing friendship that has grown so much over these years. But in the last year of my sobriety, my priorities are different, and I just really enjoyed where we are right now. We're having a lot of fun," Carl said before his voice cracked and he admitted that he was "a little nervous," to which Andy replied, "Awww."

"We're really happy," Carl continued. "She's my best friend, she's got my back, and we respect each other, which I think is huge for a relationship."

Now Carl has even more Lindsay in his life, thanks to a cardboard cutout of his girlfriend that served as the guest bartender during Monday night's WWHL, along with a cardboard cutout of Amanda. During the WWHL After Show, Carl and Kyle were granted permission to bring the cardboard cutouts of their respective significant others home, and Lindsay was thrilled to meet the two-dimensional version of herself. "He can keep me forever now," she captioned a photo of Carl posing with her cardboard cutout in her Instagram Stories.
