Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street newcomer Lydia Chambers will face doubts over her burgeoning romance with Daniel Osbourne next week, after a revelation about his past causes concern for her.

Lydia (Rebecca Ryan) and Daniel (Rob Mallard) first shared a kiss on Christmas Eve and have since been exploring their potential romantic connection, but Lydia's discovery will spark some doubts.

When Lydia congratulates Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) on the success of her protest against sexual harassment at Weatherfield High School, Amy makes a comment about how she and teacher Daniel have both managed to overturn their suspensions from the school recently.

Lydia is intrigued by Amy's words and she later quizzes Daniel about what Amy meant. When he reveals that he was recently wrongly accused of being involved in an inappropriate relationship with his student Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), Lydia is shocked.

When Lydia meets up with her friend Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien) for a drink at the Rovers, she voices her concerns about Daniel's chequered past to Sarah.

But Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who enjoyed a brief relationship with Daniel herself before Christmas, overhears their conversation and she immediately leaps to Daniel's defence, assuring Lydia that he is a lovely guy.

Sarah later tells Daniel that Daisy was singing his praises to Lydia and Daniel is taken aback by the news.

When he heads to the Rovers, Daniel thanks Daisy for her kind words about him, but he's surprised when Daisy suggests that they should go out for a drink sometime.

Just as the pair are talking, Lydia arrives and notices the spark between Daniel and Daisy. But who does Daniel really want to be with?

Star Rebecca, who plays Lydia, recently told Digital Spy and other media that there is a "genuine attraction" between her character and Daniel, explaining that they have "a lot in common".

"I think they would be really good together," she said. "Like I say, I think they've got a lot in common, they've got a lot of similar interests, I think they would be really good together."

Unfortunately for Lydia, Daniel's connection with Daisy could end up causing issues for their burgeoning relationship, but Lydia will also be involved in another Street relationship, as her past romantic connection with Sarah's husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) threatens to cause chaos.

Corrie producer Iain MacLeod has teased: "Lydia will come to be quite a threat to Sarah and Adam's marriage – or indeed, perhaps more accurately, she will be the catalyst for Sarah and Adam to risk destroying their own relationship."

With "secrecy", "scheming" and "subterfuge" all on the cards in this ongoing plot, Lydia's presence could end up becoming a bit of a nightmare for Sarah and Adam...

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, January 24 and Wednesday, January 26 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
