Wasilewski opened up about his difficult upbringing in an April 2022 appearance on The Courage to Change podcast. He revealed that he was born in England and moved to Santa Monica, California when he was 8 years old.

On the podcast, Wasilewski revealed he "grew up surrounded by skate and surf culture and gang and drug culture." This led to him becoming, as he describes it, "a troubled, poor, latchkey kid of the '80s."

He is an addiction therapist

According to his LinkedIn profile, Wasilewski currently works at Catalyst Recovery as a primary therapist. The company aims to help individuals cope with alcohol and drug-related addiction.

"I've worked in the field of addiction and mental health for over 16 years, helping to treat clients with a range of diagnosis [sic] and difficulties," he wrote on his LinkedIn bio. "Much of my work has been with those suffering from addiction and various mental health issues, as well as extensive work with adolescent clients."

"I'm a trained interventionist, experienced sober coach and case manager," he continued. "I have had broad experience with numerous addictive behaviors, as well as comprehensive training in various therapeutic modalities. I am EMDR trained and also well versed in 12 Step and harm-reduction modalities."

He is a huge sports fan

Aside from his passion for his work, Wasilewski is also an avid sports fan.

Wasilewski has discussed his love for sports in many Instagram posts. While paying tribute to former Las Vegas Raiders coach John Madden after his December 2021 death, Wasilewski spoke about first becoming a fan of the team in 1981.

He has previously shared content in support of the Los Angeles Dodgers, including a photo of himself and Sweetin attending a game in September 2021. After the death of Dodgers legend Vin Scully, Wasilewski posted a tribute on Instagram showing off his WWVSD ("What Would Vin Scully Do") tattoo.

He is sober and over 20 years smoke-free

In August 2021, Wasilewski celebrated a major milestone in his recovery, abstaining from cigarette smoking. Alongside a photo of a "no smoking" sign, he wrote: "Today marks 20 years of not smoking."

He also revealed on The Courage to Change podcast in April 2022 that he has been sober since he was 26 years old.

His identity was originally a mystery

Sweetin was first spotted with a mystery man when they appeared together at a performance of Dear Evan Hansen in New York City on Sept. 19, 2017.

In January 2018, Sweetin posted a photo collage on Instagram from her 36th birthday celebrations with friends. In one of the photos, Sweetin appeared to be leaning on a mystery man whose identity wasn't known at the time.

The following month, Sweetin confirmed Wasilewski's identity in an Instagram post on Valentine's Day.

He and Sweetin had a long-distance relationship

During an appearance on the Allison Interviews podcast in November 2021, Sweetin revealed that she and Wasilewski had a long-distance relationship for the first three and a half years that they dated. In particular, Sweetin noted the distance helped her daughters "warm up" to the relationship.

"He was in Brooklyn, and I was here in L.A. for three and a half years, and so it was slow, and it was nice," said Sweetin. "He was very good at letting them warm up to him and not having to force a relationship."

He lets Sweetin have the spotlight

Wasilewski prefers to stay in the background regarding his wife's career and the limelight that comes with it.

"He is like, 'I just want to support you. You do your dream, and I will just be back here being your biggest fan. I don't need to be in pictures or all of it.' " she told Entertainment Tonight in February 2022.

He asked Sweetin to marry him in January 2022

Wasilewski popped the question while on a hike with Sweetin on Jan. 17, 2022, just two days before Sweetin's 40th birthday. She celebrated the news with a photo of the pair, flashing her engagement ring in the image.

"I love you, Mescal, for always," she wrote in the caption. "You're my person. I can't wait to see the life that lies ahead for us. Here's to us, @ghostfacelito, and our life of adventures. Together."

In Wasilewski's own post, he wrote: "So that happened…"

However, Wasilewski had reservations about his plan when Sweetin's fictional dad on Full House and close friend Bob Saget died on Jan. 9, 2022. Ultimately, he decided to go through with the proposal.

"We get to talk about being happy," Sweetin explained to Entertainment Tonight in February 2022. "... Life is really painful, and then life all of a sudden throws you great joy, and that's sort of the adventure of this. You just have to keep and trust that even in the bad times, it will get good again. You can make it through the bad times 'cause there's something good on the other side."
